Many people believe that crystals and crystal lore was only manifested with the New Age Movement. This assumption could not be more wrong. People from all over the world from all different cultures have used crystals for healing not only for themselves and others in the tribe but for animals as well.
Much of the wisdom of using crystals has been passed down from numerous generations by Shaman, Seers, Healers and Elders. And as hard as some people may find it to believe crystals have taught many people directly on a psychic level.
When you begin to work with crystals, you will work with them from your heart and an emotional level. The more you work with crystals the more you will begin to communicate with them as you would a friend. This includes working with your intuition and creativity.
Crystals speak to us through body sensations, idea, and visions. The key is trusting in yourself and your intuition. I will share a story about how my Shaman Stone came to me.
A group of us heard about this fantastic crystal shop and went to it. I was in heaven there was so many crystals! Everything I had on my list was there, so after completing my list; I checked out and was walking around the store just admiring everything. I kept hearing someone say my name, "WhiteOak". I asked my friends if they were calling for me, or I would walk up to them and ask what they wanted. Each time, they told me they were not the one calling for me! So chalking it up as my imagination, I continued to walk around. I kept hearing someone say "WhiteOak" so I walked back over to the counter and the owner came up to me and asked if I needed anymore help. As I was staring down into the show case, I seen this unusual quartz and asked the guy if I could see it. He looked at me in an odd way, and then smiled. As he placed the stone in my hand, the feeling I got was unreal. It was as if I had been searching for something all of my life and finally found it!
I knew I had to have this stone, not because it was beautiful, because as far as looking at its appearance, it was not an eye catching beauty. I explained to the owner of the shop how I came over to this case and about hearing someone calling my name. He smiled again and said, "This is called a Shaman Stone!" So he went on to explain to me that all Healers will have a Stone that will be their teachers, their guides to help them on their path. With this stone calling to me the way it did, it was my Shaman Stone.
Working with this stone has been remarkable. I have learned so much and to this day continue to learn from it. A friend of mine sent me a stone that was very sacred to her but felt the stone needed to be with, it was a mookaite. I automatically had seen a face that was naturally formed in the stone, and was told to place it in my medicine bag with my Shaman Stone. This has never happened before, ever! But instead of arguing with it, I did exactly what I was suppose too and placed it in my medicine bag. A couple of months later I was lead to send the mookaite back to my friend and she said it felt wonderful, different, and stronger. If I did not believe in all of the messages that I had gotten, I honestly do not believe I would be where I am with the connections I have with my healing stones.
Along with listening to my crystals, I also study different books that I am lead too. Dolfyn and Melody are two of my favorite authors. These two authors make you fall in love with your crystals plus teach you how to communicate better with them.
According to Dolfyn, some of the most powerful crystals are those that still have earth, dirt or clay adhering to them. Many times people will try to wash away the dirt and by doing so, this also removes the Nature Spirits that work in conjunction with that crystal. A perfect example would be my Shaman Stone.
It does not matter if you are working with crystal for magickal purposes or using them for healing, the key will be YOU trusting in the Sensations, the Visions, the Thoughts and the Guidance that the stone is giving to you.
There have been very few times that I have felt a need to cleanse my crystals when they first come to me. I know when I placed my order with Quartz Creek Crystals, the stones I purchased called to me from the web page. When I got them, there was no need for me to cleanse them and three of them will be used for healing purposes only. If you do have a need to cleanse your crystals here are a few methods: soak them in spring water with sea salt, bury them in the ground or smudge them with white sage and lavender. When you smudge, you just wave the crystal through the smoke from the herbs.
